Spring’s here, officially. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of bright pink… I went to investigate and found that the azaleas have bloomed. The forsythia bush is also blooming– it was already budding during the recent snow, so I wasn’t sure whether or not we’d see flowers. It makes me want to go buy some annuals and get them in the ground.

Max has now lost two teeth! He pulled the second one out this morning– finally victorious after working on it all weekend. I was the sub today in Max’s class at school (omg, not an easy job) and one of his friends told me that the tooth fairy gives him $10 for each tooth he loses. Another boy gets $10 for each, though got $20 for the one that got lost after it fell out. Max seemed pretty pleased with the two dollar coins that Ms. Fairy left him last time… we’ll see how long that lasts before he thinks he’s getting shorted. I used to get dimes! Even with inflation, $10 seems like a lot of money.

Thank you, thank you for all of the phone calls, emails, and text messages for my birthday on Friday. You know how to make a girl an old lady feel special.

A few weeks ago, Khai spent some time constructing an elaborate booby trap in our back yard. To capture bad guys. He also buried all of our sidewalk chalk so the bad guys wouldn’t steal it. I’m not sure who these bad guys are, but they are obviously diabolical.

The day after he completed the trap, it got covered in snow. Not one to be upset by such things, Khai was glad: it’s sneakier this way.

Earlier this week, we drove up to Lake Murray in Oklahoma. We’d hoped to do some hiking and all sorts of outdoorsy things, but then the rain came. Lots of rain. Five inches of rain. The entirety of Tuesday was spent in the cabin, with our one attempt at hiking ending in thunder & lightning. It was still fun just to get away for a while. It seems like Max and Khai have had a good spring break, even if it did not turn out exactly as we’d planned.

Writing here has slipped to the bottom of my priorities list. I don’t like that. Writing is just something I’ve always done, and it bothers me that it becomes difficult from time to time. I guess it comes and goes.

I’m going to attempt to post more photos, even if I can’t bring myself to write. I’d like to pretend that I will post a photo every day, but I know myself better than that. How about I post some pictures when I think about it? And I’ll try to think about it more often.

For a while there it seemed like a good idea to scrap this whole site, because it needs upgraded and moved to a different server and, and, and… it starts feeling like I’m obligated to do all of this STUFF. But then I remembered how many years of history I have here (and such easy access, to boot– *searchable* history) and realized that I would regret it. So, yeah, it’s still here, and still in need of a lot of work. Work that will probably get put off for a long while because I have more important things to do. Like making pancakes with my kids.
