Terrific things this week, in no particular order:

  • Max & Khai had their first basketball practice ever– it’s a league for 4-6 year olds and they’ll play a game every Friday night for the next six weeks. Man, I really should’ve taught them how to do little things like dribble a basketball! They’ll figure it out eventually. Right?
  • Dinner with Mike … Thai food, yum! Khai conned Mike into reading the dialogue on his Nintendo DS for him. Sneaky, yeah?
  • TWO coffee dates this week. I’m going to get spoiled.
  • Moussaka, made safe for erica-consumption.
  • Josh is home this week… I sure do like that husband of mine.
  • New organizational system for the linen closet. That makes me deliriously happy.
  • My friends. You make my life brighter.

Hey, remember that time I went to Portland, like almost two weeks ago? It was awesome. I think that if life existed in a vacuum and were changeable on simple whims, I’d pick up and move there. It was so good to have time with Matt & Jenny, to just hang out. The trip was too short, but next time airfare drops, we’ll be headed back. Oh, yes. And we’ll take the kids, too.

There’s so much going on that life feels swirly-swimmy-crazy. And it’s not just me… for a lot of people lately. The only constant is change. Sometimes that’s comforting, yeah? Also comforting: chocolate.

How did I miss two T^4’s? I guess I’m more preoccupied than I realize. This whole LIFE thing… it eats up a lot of time, yeah?

1) It has been a rough week, but there’s light at the end of the tunnel! Tomorrow Josh and I are headed to Portland for the weekend to visit dear friends. I’m not packed yet. Tim Gunn needs to come to my house and show me how to put an outfit together that doesn’t scream I’M A MOM!!! I’m hard to fit and clueless when it comes to flattering my figure. I need help. Desperately.

2) Sweet things from Khai: “You’re so mommy. You look like a mommy. I’m glad you’re MY mommy.” He also took my glasses off of my face and told me he likes it better when he can see all of my eyes. (ALL of them?!?!) Before dinner, he asked when I was going to make him happy. I asked how to make him happy, and he replied: “by SMILING at me!” He then demonstrated with a super-big smile. Things have been easier with him in the last couple of weeks– I think school makes a big difference.

3) Max has his very first loose tooth! He told me that he’s not going to wiggle it too much so that it can come out all on its own. He’s such a big kid all of a sudden! He’s taking showers all on his own, acing spelling tests, sneaking mystery books into bed. Just…wow.

I need to write regularly again. It seems like there are just too many other things that need done, and it’s so easy to put this off! I regret not having all of the normal life stuff documented somewhere– because someday I will miss all of this. Even the hard parts.
