So much time with Max and Khai has left me with MANY things that will either cause laughter, groans, or complete horrification. Or all of the above.

1) Max’s favorite joke of the week: Where do fishies keep their money? IN THE RIVER BANK! Get it? Get it? THE RIVER BANK!

2) Khai’s favorite joke of the week: Knock-knock? Who’s there? Door! Door who? DOOR CAN’T FLY THE RAINBOW!!! Get it? Get it? (No, but I’ll laugh like I do!!! HA HA HA!!!)

3) Last night’s dinner had a side dish of garlic-thyme zucchini, and upon seeing my empty thyme bottle, Max was delighted to point out that we were OUT OF THYME! Get it? GET IT??? ( I hear this 2340239230948 times a day. Get it?)

4) Khai walked in on me while I was getting dressed and wondered out loud why there was something wrong with my undies. “They’re all stuck in your bottom!” Yay, thongs. How do I explain that to an almost-four-year old?

5) Max made up a new germ yesterday: the solarcule. It’s called a solarcule because it makes most of its energy from infrared and ultraviolet light. Other energy comes from us– we are food for them. It lives in it’s own waste– but not right away– it has to harden first so that it’s like a rock. They also eat other germs’ saliva. (He could turn this into a truly terrifying sci-fi novel. YAY!)

6) I saved the best for last. The other day Max changed the toilet paper roll and came to tell me. “You know, toilet paper is really handy stuff!” I had to agree with that. “Really, though, only girls need toilet paper. If you have a penis, you can just shake it off. But you can’t shake a hole.” This is where I fell over and died because I couldn’t breathe. I didn’t want to laugh out loud, as he was perfectly serious. And he did have a point there. I could only utter an “Ummmm.” But! Then, it occurred to me that hey, boys have to use toilet paper when they poop! “OH YEAH! So boys do need toilet paper too.” Then I died some more.

THE END! Please send meds. Or more chocolate.

Three Terrific Things Friday? I spaced my T^4 yesterday; do I get a make-up?

Today’s terrific things:

Both boys are in school this morning! This is the first time I’ve been alone in the house in two weeks. It’s so beautifully quiet, but even more joyful than that is the fact that the boys were well enough to go to school. I’m only letting Max do half a day, as his stamina is still not great… but after three weeks of bronchitis, ear infections, pink eye (and all of that post-surgery!) I am just glad he’s feeling better. It’s so good to hear Max & Khai playing together and being their rambunctious selves again.

Spring is here! With the recent rains, all of the grass and trees are so GREEN– it’s beautiful. There are buds and blooms all over the place. I have all of the windows open and there’s a great breeze blowing through… it makes all of the boys’ drawings on the walls flutter (they spent about an hour yesterday sticking pieces of paper important signs to the walls with stickers).

My dear husband has once again surprised me– he had several things delivered to the house since he had to be out of town on my birthday (it was Wednesday, and many thanks for all of the e-cards, text messages and emails!). Roses, a balloon, chocolate, a book… but most astonishing? A bottle of the perfume I was wearing at the time we started dating eight years ago. I didn’t even remember that… but he did. He’s so sweet, and so very sentimental.

The past several weeks have been unusual. I’m in week three of this weird respiratory illness… hopefully the coughing will go away soon. Spring cleaning fever has hit me, so I’ve been cleaning and organizing like a madwoman; it has been in spurts, though, since the boys were at home for two weeks straight. Focus? What focus?

There is so much to tell you, much to write about… but wouldn’t it be nicer just to talk over coffee? I keep meaning to sit down and catch up in the LiveJournal universe, but I keep finding things that need done. I know, I know… it will never be all done. I still love you! (I kiss you!)

Hello, dear internets! I have missed you! The past few weeks have been stuck in crazy-fast-forward and it feels like there’s barely been a chance to come up for air. Between Max’s surgery, the kids and I getting sick (and staying sick), a weekend out of town, spring break and a plethora of doctor’s appointments… well, I’m kind of worn down. Really worn down, actually– someone press PAUSE, mmkay? Thanks.

Three great things for today…

Max’s two-week follow-up appointment with his surgeon was today, and everything looks great. YAY! So glad that saga has come to an end.

Fresh bread. Mmm. Toasted, with buttery stuff.

I went into my local hardware store today and was once again just so happy to be living in this little town– it’s like being tucked in the side pocket of the big city. It’s a small store, but it’s easy to find everything I need, and they are always so nice.

Ok. Off to bed. I need to start feeling better– it’s been two weeks now! Max is still really sick, fever and all… hopefully tomorrow he’ll be on the upswing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EIWE AND JENNY!

TRRRRRRRRRES!
I’m going to see if I can get the boys’ school to let me put a collection box out for stuffed animals and clothes to be sent to children in Iraq. I figure if I spread the word through the parents’ website and maybe make notes to send home with the kids, we can surely gather up a few boxes to send over. I’m excited about this.
