It was 70 degrees outside this morning when I took Max & Khai to school– love it-love it-love it. I hope we have a few more days like this in store. There’s been a lot of rain, so even though it has been just five days since I last mowed, it needs done again. I’m glad the grass is happy, even if I do have to mow more often.

I MISS MY HUSBAND. The work he’s doing in Michigan can’t be done fast enough– there have been too many nights of little or no sleep and too much frustration. It’s wearing him out.

This morning I was awakened at 6:30am by the sound of bass thumping from next door… it’s easy to tell which mornings the parents leave early for work. I can understand the loud music– back in the day we used to dance next to the speakerstacks at teh raves! But really, at 6:30am? I don’t get cranky about the bass; I get cranky about being awake before my alarm goes off. If this means I’m old, then so be it.

Part of it might just be that I’m missing Josh a lot, but I have been feeling the need to go out and be social. I have friends out there, somewhere…. but being trapped at home makes getting together kind of tough. That, and the kids’ 7pm bedtime (I know!!! They are so tired lately– school and running around and screaming and playing superhero and such. It makes evenings nice and quiet, though).

Random good stuff:

  • There have been more dragonflies floating around this summer than I’ve ever seen.
  • I made calzones for the first time and they were good.
  • my back is finally feeling well enough to hit the gym again
  • my mom flies in tomorrow night and will be here til Sunday
  • new shoes (I’m still searching for THE red ones, Robin!)

I have so much in my head that wants to be written… but organizing it into actual, coherent sentences? It’s not happening. Never in my life have I had problems writing out the contents of my head, but for most of this year I have just not been able to get the words out. It’s disconcerting and just…bugs me more than it should.

So! Randomness will have to suffice.

My dear father sent me this. It’s so bad! Look! All Your Snakes Belong to Us

This is why I love the internet: OK Go’s Here It Goes Again makes me smile. My life would definitely be lacking enlightenment without the Lego version.

OK Go’s logo reminds me of how much I like the lowercase letter ‘g’ in the Trebuchet font. What? Typography makes me happy.

The boys are in school and loving it. Life is busier than ever. I have family coming in and out of town for the next couple of weeks so that makes things crazy, but in a very good way. I miss my dahling husband (he’s in Michigan for the fourth week in a row, and weekends just aren’t long enough). I made spelt pita bread last week and it was good.

Swirling, whirling, twirling thoughts. Glowsticks, anyone?

  • my yoga teacher is back! She had surgery on both feet in June and has been gone since then. The substitutes? Eh, not horrible… but I’m very glad she’s back.
  • spelt biscotti…. Josh ordered some online and now I have to try not to eat it all in one sitting.
  • Netflix. Seriously, it’s like Christmas in my mailbox. Most recently-watched good movie: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Remember how I have a thing for Robert Downey, Jr. ever since I had that dream a few years ago? He doesn’t disappoint.
  • Uncle Mike’s set of emulsion transfers on Flickr. This. Is. Art.
  • Ring toss. Sort of… only the ring is a hula hoop and I throw it at my kids, who are running around wildly. I win every time!
