I can only call Sven my mentor– it was because of him that I found art in college (and thus, people like myself! gasp!). There are some breathtaking photos in the 3 Points of View exhibit. The show opens tonight if you’re near Oneonta!

Dave lives and breathes art moreso than any person I’ve ever met. He’s the consummate painter– the type you read about in novels. Dave is a rockstar.
Daniel James Photography
Daniel’s photographic drive and attention to detail never fail to impress. His Flickr account just passed 100,000 hits and he’s celebrating with a print sale. A couple of those are even of me!

I like that.
I like chocolate, too, but I tend to eat it all and then it’s gone. Words last longer.
Insomnia doesn’t work well for me. I finally fell asleep sometime after 3am, only to wake up before 6am. Whyyyy? It leaves me feeling like a zombie, only I crave coffee instead of brains.
Apparently yesterday was Paula Abdul Day at the gym. I was there long enough for two rotations through the same CD! Lucky me. The day before that? Happy Hardcore Horror Day: I heard Alphaville’s Forever Young turned into a kicky, bubble-gum, poplicious song. Also? The song from The Neverending Story redone at 180 BPM. Eeep. This is my punishment for neglecting to bring earbuds.
We’re still trying to get back into routine now that we’re back from Santa Fe, but it’s slow going. I’ve been busy scheduling all of our summer activities, appointments and such– suddenly the calendar is full through mid-August. I have to remember to take one day at a time, because if I look at the whole summer I get overwhelmed in a hurry.
One of the activities we’re doing is a weekly story and crafts time at our local library. It’s absolute chaos and I’d like to never, ever go back again… but the kids love it. So I guess we’ll keep going (grumble). Max has joined the summer reading club (I know! He’s reading! For real!) and if he logs ten hours, he’ll get a prize. It makes me go all gooshy inside when he reads to Khai– but I can’t let him know that or he might stop doing it.
I’m running about a month behind on photos for the boys’ gallery, but if sleep continues to elude me then I’ll have them posted within a week. I’m behind on so many things that really, I don’t think I’ll ever catch up, sleep or no sleep.
Has anyone else been watching the Mavs stomp all over the Heat? Oh, I love this game. Basketball is best watched in person, but if that’s not an option, I have to say that this is one of the times I feel most lucky to have a big-screen television. However, I’ve been watching on a regular-sized set: the boys and I have been at my parents’ place in Santa Fe for the last week and a half.
It has been wonderful to spend so much time with family… it’s hard living far away. I realize it’s all relative and that the 12 hours are *nothing* compared to the distance some people face, but it certainly feels like they are a world away.
Highlights of the last week or so: mountains, breakfast with Dad, seeing Max & Khai bond with Mom, Saturday afternoon on the plaza with Rachel, reading, NO MOSQUITOES, family, family, family.
