Max has known how to operate the tv and dvr for a long time now, but in the last couple of weeks he has figured out how to record things. Since we got the dvr, it has held mostly cartoons (that means I don’t have to keep track of DVDs or get up to switch kid movies!) with a little Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica here and there. Now? Max wants to record things just for the sake of recording them– even going so far as to turn on the tv, find a show he likes, hit ‘record’ and walk away. He doesn’t actually want to watch it… that’s not as fun.

I’ve become a regular at the gym, despite the fact that my muscles have been screaming at me for the past few weeks. My most favorite thing is the yoga class– it could only be better if it were offered every day. It’s tough, but energizing at the same time. Being part of a class is worlds away from doing yoga on my own; I’ve been doing poses I couldn’t even figure out how to do before, not to mention poses I didn’t think I had the flexibility for. Truly, I’d love to take this class every day– it makes me feel good. Pilates is fun, and I don’t mind the cardio workouts, but I am excited about the yoga.

That reminds me: action figures + yoga poses = yogabeans.

What kind of kitchen floor do you have? What do like/not like about it? We’re going in circles trying to figure out what kind of flooring to put down in our kitchen– we want something that will hold up well to our kids, look nice, and hopefully won’t have to be replaced in five years. GAHHHHH. Really, it shouldn’t be this tough. It’s a FLOOR.

The paper journal has been getting a lot of use lately. There’s a lot in my head, as always, but I’ve had a hard time getting it out once I’m at the keyboard. I go through these cycles where I write all the time, sharing every mundane and boring detail with the world… then I will back off and not put anything out there, not even the good stuff that’s worth sharing. I don’t get it either. Consistency is apparently not a strong point.

Yoga and pilates classes are kicking my butt. I’m excited, though– I like a challenge. In between classes I’ve been doing weights and the elliptical trainer… hopefully the soreness will subside soon.

CheesePeas has been found. Last week Khai got sick and threw up a thousand times (okay, not really– but it seemed like a thousand times). As a result, I did sooooo much laundry, including a pile of blankets from winter that I’d set aside to wash and put away. Guess what? The bear was wrapped up in one of them. Max was soooo happy!

I’ve still not made the amaretto brownies again… something about working out more makes me want to eat better. Weird how that works. If I get the craving you’ll be the first to know. Well, second. I’ll probably share them with Josh. Probably.

See? I have more I’d like to write, but just don’t know how to get it out. I’m all kinds of disconnected.

Happy birthday, Mike! You need cake. Lots and lots of cake. :) We’ll skip the part about candles since, well, yeah…. CAKE.

My attempts at writing keep getting cut short and then abandoned. Of course, it would help if I could follow a thought to completion… but kids hinder that a bit. Max has taken to rapid-fire “mommy-mommy-mommy-mommy-mommy”-ing me if I don’t respond right away and it might be the most annoying thing ever. Khai is still in the throes of two-ness and that alone is more than any human should be forced to endure on a daily basis.

This past weekend Katie took me to PF Chang’s– I’d never been before. They have a gluten-free menu! Instant brownie points! I had a lemon chicken dish and have been craving it ever since. The hour wait for our table was a bit much, but I guess that’s what reservations are for, yeah?

That reminds me that last week Josh and I took the boys to eat Pho and they loved it. They both wanted to eat with chopsticks: Khai figured out very quickly that if he stabbed the meatball it was easy to get it into his mouth. Noodles everywhere…

We’re going to be remodeling the kitchen soon and milling through the endless options available have taken over almost all of my time. There’s been an ongoing research extravaganza– what kind of flooring will hold up to our kids? What kind of countertops are best? Paint? Backsplash tile? Faucet style? The resounding truth: there is no BEST type of anything. It all comes down to what’s better for your home, your family. Everything has both pros and cons– and so the internal debate wages on. Several times, we’ve decided on something only to discover new information that sends us right back to square one. That’s a good thing in the end, though it feels like there’s no progress being made.

Today is the day I give large amounts of money to the gym so I can be an Official Member. I’m so ready.
