We’re getting better at road-tripping with the

Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful– turkey, ham, and roast beef with all of the traditional trimmings on the side. Grandpa John made stuffing with spelt breadcrumbs (and sausage!) so all of us non-wheat-eaters actually got to have some. That made me really happy– it’s hard to have to look at some of my favorite holiday foods but not be able to eat them.

Rachel beat Dad and me at Scrabble not once, but TWICE! I shall exact my revenge. No worries there, dear sister.
Josh is making me wait until it’s officially December to put up the tree. Bah! That reminds me that I need to finish up the advent calendar I’ve been working on… less than two days til December is here.

I’m the only one awake, and the silence is HUGE. This is a recent development– waking up long before anyone else. I do try to fall back asleep, but it doesn’t seem to work. This wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t also have trouble falling asleep to begin with, most nights. I don’t feel like I’m getting enough rest, so why can’t I sleep?
It’s hard to believe that it’s almost Thanksgiving. This year has *flown* by, and even moreso since Max started school. We’re heading off to Santa Fe for a ‘Food Party’ (Max’s terminology) with my oh-so-far-away family. I’m excited to see them… it gets harder and harder to be far away from them. I guess somewhere in my mind I expected it to get easier as I got older; instead, I am more aware of how special my family is, and how I want each of them to be a part of not only my life, but my kids’ lives.
Too heavy for early-morning thinking.
Yoga is a good thing. I don’t know why I go in bouts of picking it up and dropping it, both months at a time. It makes everything better. Okay, maybe not *everything* — but a lot of things.
Max is up… and has replaced my train of thought. :)
