Coolest color tool ever. ColorSynth Axis is brilliant. [via metafilter]

No sugar for ONE WHOLE WEEK now. (somebody toss me a cookie!)

For the past several months, Josh and I have been buying coffee beans and grinding them ourselves. What we didn’t know was that this would ruin ‘normal’ coffee– the pre-ground stuff in a can tastes horrible in comparison. Before, in our ignorance, we thought our coffee was good. We bought the canned, ground coffee and enjoyed it; but NO! Not anymore. After having The Good Stuff, we find that inadvertantly, we’ve become coffee snobs. We turn up our noses at the pre-ground variety and only use it when we’re out of beans to grind. Like right now. There’s a half-full can lurking in my pantry that might well stay half-full for a while– I find myself choosing not to make coffee at all rather than to brew pseudo-coffee. I might as well drop by a truck stop for some burned, stale, acrid dregs. Herbal tea suddenly seems like a perfect coffee alternative. (At least until I can get to the store for some more coffee beans.)

It seems that life has shifted again, perhaps due to the ever-changing nature of, well, everything.

We have entered a whole new era of busy-ness since Max started preschool– but it’s a good busy. He’s loving every minute of it, and it has been nice to have some one-on-one time with Khai. Being on a schedule is still a little foreign, but we’re doing well. We’ve always had a daily routine, but it has never been by the clock; now we have to make sure that lunch is started by a certain time (11:30am, which is WAY too early, IMHO) and that we’re out the door by 12:15 at the latest. I didn’t realize how much I relished the complete freedom from the clock until recently. Also, even though we haven’t gone that many places, it was nice to know that we COULD pick up and go anywhere at any time. That’s no longer a possibility without Max missing school days… very strange. Also strange: my three-year old is doing math. “Seven apples plus three raisins equals ten. Right, Mommy?”

The site is begging for a redesign again, so I may forfeit some sleep to get it done. Sleep is overrated anyway.

Oh! Khai’s favorite word is “WOW.” I’m trying to get him to say, “DUDE.” We’ll see if he picks it up or not. This could be fun.
