Sometimes, I am a Bear of Very Little Brain. Like last night, when I stayed up until almost 2:30am playing WEBoggle (aka internet crack). I’d really like to be playing it right now, but I don’t want to get sucked into a few hours’ worth of boggling. So instead, I’ll write about it and make myself wait until the kids are in bed. THEN I’ll spend a ridiculous amount of time muttering to myself about how the letter A should have been one square down and if only there were a V next to the D I could pull the word ‘advance’ out of that jumble of letters…

I found my sling last night! This is big news. I’d been looking for it for over a month and was getting scared that I’d left it somewhere inadvertently. Finally, I discovered it’s hiding place: under the recliner in our bedroom. Yes, the recliner that really only gets used to hold the comforter when it’s not on the bed; the very recliner that I need to Ebay and send to a home that will give it more attention. I’m so glad to have found it– I love my sling. I got it here– every parent needs one. Funny, though, that Max hated being worn; I guess it was too confining for him. Khai is so much more clingy that if he could find a way to convince the parental units, he’d be held or worn 24/7.

Another thing I love is Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day ‘aromatherapeutic’ cleaners. I’ve got the lemon verbena scent, and even diluted quite a lot, it cleans well AND smells good. This reminds me that I need to put the boys in the car and run to the health food store. Time for more Udo’s Oil, spelt flour and rice cheese. Sounds tasty, hmm?

This weekend we had an overnight guest– a friend of a friend was passing through and needed a place to stay. Manjula was so much fun to talk with, and hearing about some of her travels and adventures was amazing. She just received her PhD — her work and research revolves around sea turtles. We all enjoyed having her here, including Max and Khai– they climbed her, hugged her, and played with her like she was a long-lost aunt. As Josh remarked after she left, “We need to have more friends of friends come to visit!”

There are certain phrases and songs that have been popping into my head routinely for a few years now. There’s no rhyme nor reason to it, and I’m not sure what triggers it. Most frequently visiting are: 2 lines from T.S. Eliot’s The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock (men in shirtsleeves leaning out of windows and I grow old… I grow old… / I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled) and a snippet from an old Police song (mes-sage in a bot-tle– complete with music, of course). Are other people afflicted with this, or is it just me?

My Life with Young Children has been intense lately. They are both daredevils, and unfortunately, tend to run in opposite directions to do their daring deeds. I think the only safe option is to sell all of the furniture and install thick padding on all walls and floors.
