My geek loves me. He bought me this shirt as a token of his affection:

Khai’s birthday party went well– it was small, just family. He is a sensitive baby, and seemed a little overwhelmed even with only 10 people in attendance. Something to remember for the future. ;) Big brother Max helped with everything from the blowing out of the candle to the opening of the presents. Truth be told, Max had more fun than Khai did!

It’s hard to write here without focusing solely on my kids. After all, I focus solely on my kids most of the time. This is my space, for my brain-goo, and I want to keep it for ME. The kids have their site, and that’s where my stuff about them goes. Things aren’t that black-and-white, however. My life revolves around them, and the things orbiting in my periphery are often mundane (laundry, dishes, diapers, damage control). I’m on hold for a while, essentially. I try to do “me” things every now and then, but it ends up being a mostly hollow effort. When there is down time, it’s nice to use it as down time and not do anything at all for a change. I would probably write here more often if I had more to write about.

I have several emails that need replies. Maybe the kids will continue to play happily for a bit…

I just realized that I haven’t updated here in a MONTH. It all slips by so quickly– faster than ever before. Is it just me? Or maybe time really is speeding up as the universe expands.

Khai will be one in 7 more days. {!!!!!!!!!!!!!} He has matured so much in the past couple of months… it has been really fun watching him learn and develop more of his personality. Max, too, has grown up a lot. They keep me *so* busy. Most days are spent playing inside with blocks and trains, outside in the sandbox, reading books, and trying to keep a path clear for walking through the toys. Running errands continues to be a challenge (not to mention shopping with the two of them… that’s just an exercise in frustration), but we manage to get them all done, somehow.

I’m still playing with an altered book, though I have been stalled out for a while on a layout that I’m unhappy with. I’ve been waiting for inspiration to smack me in the head, and that may have finally happened. Now I just need some time to work on my book!

Just found out that some of our friends are moving to Maryland… another set of friends recently moved to California. Wah! We don’t get to see people very often as it is, so it just makes me sad. I’m happy for everyone– there are good opportunities all around, and hey, I’m looking forward to escaping from Texas someday myself.

We’re heading to Colorado soon for a wedding… I can’t wait. It has been too long since I’ve been in the mountains, since I’ve breathed *real* air. I wonder if that can be bottled so I can bring it back here?
