Trick-or-treating last night was fun– experiencing Halloween with a two-year-old makes it even better. He was up at 7am asking for more chocolate, please. I gave in and let him have two pieces for breakfast. :)
Max asked for more trick-or-treating, and I tried to explain that it only comes once a year. Describing ‘once a year’ to a two-year-old doesn’t go over very well… so I tried to focus on the next holiday coming up. We put a special sticker on the calendar for Thanksgiving, and talked about what “thankful” means. We’ll probably color pictures of turkeys later. Yes, there’s a repressed preschool teacher somewhere in my psyche.
We’re going to the library down the street for the Peppermint Puppet Theater in a few hours, and after that maybe we’ll go to Lowe’s so I can ogle the kitchen remodeling section. :)
Josh comes home one week from today! It hasn’t been as bad as I’d expected, but much of that is due to Rachel being here and to friends like Jenn, Katie, Jenny, and Matt. I’m ready for things to get back to normal (whatever that is).
Sooooo sleeeeeepy… need to wake up and get some cleaning done.
I just bought The Lion King on DVD for the kids. Okay, okay, so it might be a little bit for me, too.
Daniel linked this article on Road Trip Rules. It makes me want to take a road trip! Well, it makes me want to take a road trip like they used to be in the old days…. in the days before having kids. That changes *everything* — and suddenly even a trip to the grocery store or the post office becomes about as much of a road trip as I can handle. I do look forward to a time when road trips do become a possibility again… and Max & Khai will get to help plan where we go and what we do.
I think the boys and I will try to hit up a playgroup on Friday with the AP Connect mamas and babies. It’s in Coppell, so maybe we can talk Aunt Jenn into having lunch with us. :)
I need to set up a links section for the places I frequent… not that I get much traffic, but it’s nice to pass hits along when I can. I also need to do an ‘about’ section, mostly because I like reading other peoples’, and it only seems right to reciprocate.
Lunchtime!
It seems as if there is so much going on lately, yet all of it is everyday life ’stuff’ — nothing warranting epic journal entries. ;)
Josh has been in New York for over a week now, and while it has been strange without him here, I think we are coping well. He will be home for a short visit this weekend, and I imagine it will be hard to let him go back.
I want to be in the mountains.
I’ve suddenly lost the urge to write… so off to bed I go.
