Both boys napping… Max fell asleep on my lap while pretending to be a baby dinosaur hiding from a t-rex. :)

Hey Daddy… you will dig orange girl photographs. Be sure to check out the ‘orange girl’ and ‘personal’ sections. {via mighty girl}

Currently craving: tall half-caff sugar-free iced vanilla soy latte’. I’m easy to please. Heh.

I’m missing my 10-year high school reunion this weekend. When did I get old? It would be great to catch up with everyone — there are so many people I haven’t seen in years (some not since graduation). I feel like I’m very different than I was ten years ago, partly due to being older and growing up (a little bit, anyway), but also because of the many experiences, good and bad, that I’ve absorbed. In any case, I’m happy… I spent most of high school being unhappy. So hey, there’s progress!

Maybe everyone experiences that awkward high school social phenomenon… or maybe just a handful of us have to endure it. I wasn’t comfortable in my own skin then– wrapped up in worries about not being good enough, smart enough, thin enough, pretty enough, athletic enough, on and on, ad nauseum. I wasted so much time being worried about what other people thought of me… when it never really mattered what anyone thought in the first place. I guess most people fear being judged, and I suppose the key is in accepting that you WILL be judged. It’s just something humans do… it’s like our brains’ cataloging system. Learning to let go of all of those little things made life much easier. ;)

Khai is growing so fast! At his two-month appointment he weighed in at 13lbs, 6oz and was 24 inches long. He is so full of smiles, and has the sweetest babbles and gurgles. Like Max, he wants to be up on a shoulder, looking around… he starts fussing if you stand in one place for too long. He has been sleeping through most nights, and is still sleeping through much of the day, as well.

Max is a big kid now… 29.5 lbs and 36.5 inches tall at his 2-year checkup. He is so smart; it’s amazing how quickly he picks up on things! We plan on putting him in a Montessori preschool next year, and I kind of wish we didn’t have to wait that long. He’s going to love it. His vocabulary is still growing by the hour, and his pronounciation gets better every day. The imagination on this kid is incredible… it is so much fun just to watch and listen to him play. He makes all kinds of things out of his blocks– dumptrucks, elevators, brontosaurs, trains. He pretends to print mail and brings it to me to read (and of course tells me who it’s from: “from t-rex. read mail.”). Despite all of his 2-year-old behavioral growing pains, I still enjoy every moment with him.

We just had new doors and windows installed, and had vinyl siding put on the non-brick parts of our house last month. Josh is still working on remodeling the downstairs bathroom, but he doesn’t have that much more to do. The next big project will be new kitchen cabinets and a wood floor for the kitchen/dining area… or we might plaster over the brick fireplace so that it isn’t the focal point of the living area any longer. We’ll see.

Khai is awake and the Tigger Movie is ending…. The End. :)
