I just realized that I have not been taking enough pictures of Max lately. Time goes by so very quickly, and he is growing up faster than I can document it. I updated Max’s gallery for September, and added the pictures we’ve taken this month so far… there should be some great new pics after Halloween, too. Max is going to be a giraffe! We tried the costume on today– he *hated* getting into it, but he loved having it on. We made several trips to the mirror so he could check himself out. ;)

Still battling horrible morning sickness, though it seems to be getting a little better. Just a few weeks till the first trimester ends– hopefully I’ll feel better soon. I’m a lot more sensitive this pregnancy; even the smell of my hair gel makes me queasy lately. It’s so bizarre. Seems like I’m showing a bit more than I was at this time last pregnancy, too– not a lot, but there’s a little roundness where there wasn’t before.

Currently craving: maple syrup. Strange.

Today I saw my doctor and had a sonogram– it looks like we’re at about 9 weeks, and the due date has been estimated as May 24. It’s so incredible to see such a tiny thing moving around inside of me… even after having been through this once, the whole process is still just fascinating. There is a whole life in there! It seems like there’s such a long way to go… but I know it will go quickly as we busy ourselves with everyday life.

We had some *wonderful* Greek food with Robert and Emily in Ft. Worth this evening… it’s probably a good thing that the restaurant is far away from us, because things could get out of hand very quickly. MmMmMmM.

Yesterday we met up with Brad, Morgan, baby Zoe, Daniel, and Jess for hamburgers and baby-powered entertainment. More good food! It’s so funny to watch Zoe and Max together… they just aren’t quite sure what to think of each other yet.

It feels like it’s 4am. Need to pick up the millions of toys that Max has managed to spread evenly throughout the apartment, and then sleep til he’s ready to get up and make more messes. Welcome to my world. ;)

Grr. For some reason Greymatter and my server are not communicating very well… the server thinks it’s 11-something-am even when I tell Greymatter to offset by 12 hours. Not up to dealing with it tonight.

More changes coming… Max is going to be a big brother in May or June! We don’t have a definite due date yet, but will know more after seeing the doctor on Oct 16. We’d wanted kids two years apart– and since Max will be two in July, we’ll come pretty close to that. It still doesn’t seem quite real, despite the all-day, all-night nausea… I suppose a sonogram will help it sink in, though. That helped last time, anyway.

Sometimes I think I want a little girl so that we will have that experience… but then sometimes I think that another boy would be fun, too. I will be happy either way– I just want a healthy, happy baby.

I’ve been looking online for books and videos that help introduce children to the concept of a new sibling. I found a few books, and one Sesame Street video… I don’t know how much Max will be able to understand, but I’d like to at least expose him to the idea beforehand. I hope he adjusts all right– it’s going to be very different for him to have to share mom and dad’s attention. He’s going to be such a great big brother. :)

It looks as if Max and I will be trekking to Oklahoma for a couple of weeks in November. My great-grandfather is turning 97, and then not long after that I’ve got a friend who is getting married. It seems easier to stay for a while rather than making that loooong trip twice within two weeks. I’m quite sure that Max agrees wholeheartedly.

So sleepy. I don’t know why I’m still up. Time for bed.
