“i was intrigued to see how other designers would illustrate the usually plain inflight sickbag.” design for chunks is… highly amusing…

Tomorrow’s agenda: 9am operations meeting–pastries and fruit provided. 10:45am–the team leaves for On the Border… more free food! Then, our CEO decided that everyone should go see Tomb Raider during work hours (on the company, of course). Wow, how’d I end up with this job? And, I actually like what I do! Weird how things work out that way. :)

I wanted to get my dad a cheesy shirt for father’s day– one that says, “#1 Grandpa” or some such thing, but I couldn’t find one. I’m sure if he knew, he’d be absolutely crushed. Just crushed!

My left arm keeps going numb, and I’m not sure why. My hand and fingers will tingle for 5 or 6 hours at a time… it’s pretty bizarre. I’m sure it’s nothing a Caribbean vacation wouldn’t fix…

I’m not interested in work lately; there are so many other things I’d rather be doing and thinking about. Things are slow, so this is a pretty good time to be distracted… although I think if it were busy, I’d be more focused. I work SO much better when I’m under pressure. I don’t know what to do with myself unless I’m snowed under… having to find things to occupy idle brain cells gets old.

I’ve forgotten a nursery rhyme from my childhood. It says that little girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice, and boys are made from…. something else. I think it mentions snails and puppy dog tails…but there’s something else in there too. Hmm.

I’m hungry again. I think baby must be growing incredibly fast–it feels like it, anyway. It feels like he’s trying to push my ribs apart so there is more room for him in there. Four weeks left! Four weeks! How has this all gone so quickly?

Ooooohhhh, I’ve just been hit with serious food coma. I could just lie down under my desk and sleep for a couple of hours. Or, even better, I could go nap on the big squishy couch back in the game room… of course, I’d have to put a note on the door to keep the gamers from waking me.

Work is steady today– not too hectic– and our office mgmt threw a fiesta with free Mexican food, complete with a mariachi band and pralines for dessert. Mmm, free food is good food. I blame the praline for my present state… but it was worth it.

Josh, Jenn and I saw Moulin Rouge last night, and the best description I can come up with is this: Moulin Rouge is like Rocky Horror Picture Show meets Las Vegas, complete with a motley soundtrack of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s songs (often thrown together into one medley) that doesn’t quite mesh with the circa-1900’s setting. It was odd, and just a bit too schizo for my taste.

Mom and Rachel are driving down tomorrow for the baby shower on Sunday… hopefully they can keep from killing each other while en route. It has only been a little over a month since I’ve seen them, but it seems like longer. ;) I wish dad were coming, too. Although I don’t really think he’s the baby-shower-going type… hehehe.

It’s going to be a busy, busy weekend– on top of the baby shower and having family down, we’ve got childbirth prep classes alllll day Saturday. I’ve got to make sure I get to bed early tonight, or I’m going to be struggling to stay awake during class tomorrow. I’ll have my pillow and blanket there…it’s going to take some willpower to fight the nap urges.

The Crackmonkey sent me this link today– it’s an article about teens’ perspectives on media, advertising, etc. It makes me so glad that I’m not a teenager anymore, and even more glad that I don’t watch tv. A lot of the kids’ opinions are worthwhile though, and they seem to be pretty aware that they are being force-fed ideas and culture, being told what to think and what to think about. I think if you’re aware of those patterns, you’re better able to fight it and to form your own ideas. I wonder how many people are conscious of that consistently, though? I think it’s most likely more of a problem with younger kids, because they don’t yet realize who or what the media really is, nor that their goals have nothing to do with anything aside from making money. These younger kids haven’t learned not to take things at face value yet, and they think the world they see on tv is real. How frightening is that? Anyway, I ramble. It’s a good article.

How can it only be 2:40???? Surely it’s 5:00, and my clock is just off…

Ah, if we all only had this much time on our hands… [via alt text] I’m particularly fond of this rendition of “Roxanne.”

Josh and I are turning into real adults, and that’s a pretty scary concept. We bought a big, bad recliner last night (the first piece of new furniture we’ve purchased). It’s squishy in the right places, and has nice support in others… and it’s going to be great for those nights I’m up late with baby Max. We were impressed that it actually fit in our minivan in an upright position– yes, we’re easily amused.

Life has been draining lately– seems that no matter how much sleep I get, it’s not enough. I’ve been complainy-achey-whiney, and just so FULL of baby that comfort has pretty much become a thing of the past. Five more weeks. Well, plus-or-minus a few weeks. I’ve also been really hungry lately– I guess it’s just because baby is growing so fast now. I want to be taking pictures every week because the changes are so drastic… I’m so sad that our digital camera got stolen! :( What horrible timing. We have 35mm, but it’s not the same. I’m an instant gratification kind of gal. Patience never was one of the virtues in my stash…

Time for lunch. I’m ravenous!

Can I go home now? It’s been a looooong day.

Today my co-workers had a baby shower for me… we got so many cute and tiny things! Max has new sheets, towels, washcloths, socks, books, blankets, and clothes, as well as a baby monitor and ear thermometor. What a lucky baby. :) Everyone has been so generous… it’s amazing.

Many thanks to Josh, who spent much of his morning tweaking my site (even though he should have been working… ahem…). My timestamp is finally working.

I’m soooo sleepy today– probably because we stayed up late watching Traffic with Matt. It was a pretty good movie, I guess. Thought-provoking, at the very least.

I need to do grocery shopping and get my house clean. I need a good dose of motivation. I seem to have lost all of mine…
